THE TEAM
The Engineering team plays a vital role in safeguarding the hotel's physical assets while ensuring a safe, comfortable, and seamless environment for guests and associates. The department oversees all building systems, engineering operations, preventive maintenance programs, capital projects, sustainability initiatives, and compliance requirements across the property.
Reporting directly to Managing Director, with a dotted-line relationship to Hotel Manager and Corporate Director of Engineering, the Director of Engineering leads a team of skilled engineering professionals and works closely with department leaders throughout the hotel to support operational excellence.
YOUR ROLE
As Director of Engineering, you will provide strategic leadership for all engineering operations, ensuring the efficient management of the hotel's facilities, infrastructure, and technical services. You will drive asset protection, sustainability, compliance, and operational performance while leading the development of engineering talent and maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability.
Working closely with the Executive Committee, department heads, project partners, and external contractors, you will play a critical role in supporting the hotel's long-term success, guest satisfaction, and financial performance.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE THE PLACE
- Lead the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all hotel facilities, engineering systems, and physical assets.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs, annual maintenance plans, and asset lifecycle strategies to maximize operational performance.
- Drive energy management and sustainability initiatives to improve efficiency and support the hotel's environmental objectives.
- Oversee engineering budgets, cost controls, capital expenditure planning, and technical projects to achieve financial and operational goals.
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory, fire life safety, environmental, and company standards.
- Lead emergency preparedness and response efforts, ensuring rapid resolution of critical equipment and facility-related issues.
- Manage contractor and vendor relationships to ensure high-quality service delivery, project execution, and value for the business.
- Inspire, develop, and lead a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
COULD THIS BE YOU?
- You have strong leadership experience managing hotel engineering operations within a luxury hospitality environment.
- You possess in-depth knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety, and facility management.
- You are confident leading maintenance strategies, capital projects, technical upgrades, and asset improvement initiatives.
- You have a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, safety standards, and engineering best practices.
- You are commercially minded, with proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and drive operational efficiencies.
- You are passionate about sustainability and can successfully implement energy management and conservation programs.
- You are an effective communicator who builds collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners.
- You hold a diploma or degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, supported by relevant professional expertise.
